ALTON - Two dogs perished during an early morning fire at a machine repair business on Pearl Street. Firefighters responded to Steve's Sharpening Service, 1467 Pearl St., at 5:13 a.m. and found the commercial property ablaze. Steve Coates is the owner of the business.
